This winter the subject of smog and atmospheric pollution has once again gotten under the spotlight. The subject of vehicular pollution has also come to the fore with the apex court of the country known to have suggested that high-end petrol and diesel vehicles should be phased out to promote electric vehicles. Against this background, the difference of opinion in the auto industry regarding the treatment of small cars in the revised CAFÉ 3 and 4 norms draft assumes importance. Also the subject of classifying EVs at 29 grammes rather than their current status as zero emission vehicles. On the other hand, the subject of BS7 emission norms has again picked up. As the auto industry picks up new challenges and continues to march ahead, the January-February 2026 issue puts the spotlight on developments of vehicle emissions front, on vehicles, components, manufacturing tech and two key events that will happen in January 2026 and February 2026. One is the SIAT 2026 symposium by ARAI, the premier testing and homologation agency in Pune. The other is ACMA Automechanika New Delhi, which will bring together the automotive aftermarket.
