MG Unveils 2 Concept Cars At Goodwood Festival Of Speed 2026

MG Concepts

China’s SAIC Motor-owned British marquee brand MG has showcased two concept vehicles, the MG GO! and the MG Cyber Concept, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026. The concepts represent the company’s focus on blending its history with electric vehicle technology.

The MG GO! is a B-segment electric hatchback, providing a preview of a production model scheduled for 2027. Designed by the MG Design Centre in London, the concept draws inspiration from the brand’s mid-20th-century models, such as the MGB GT.

Carl Gotham, Design Director of Advanced Design, said, "With MG GO!, we wanted to create something compact and contemporary, but also warm, expressive and immediately likeable, an embodiment of all that we admire about the MG brand. It is not about looking back for its own sake, but about capturing some of the clarity, charm and emotional appeal that have always made MG so distinctive, and reinterpreting that in a way that feels relevant today and crucially creating something with strong charisma.”

On the other hand, the MG Cyber Concept is a D-segment electric performance SUV. It is intended to combine the utility of a larger vehicle with the driving dynamics associated with sports cars. The design was influenced by the EX181 land speed record vehicle.

Jozef Kaban, Vice-President of Global Design, MG, said, “Great design begins with people, not products. Technology and innovation are essential, but they can be shared. Character cannot. The future of automotive design is about creating cars with a strong identity that people instantly recognise and emotionally connect with. Great design should spark curiosity, excitement and desire. It should make people stop, smile and want to discover more. Our MG concepts express this vision for the future of the brand. Because great design is never just about the car. It’s about people, their experiences and their dreams. Our role is to inspire them and create products that enrich their journey through life.”

Alongside the concepts, MG presented a ‘Future Motion Show’ to demonstrate its work in artificial intelligence, autonomous driving and connectivity.

The company also displayed six production vehicles currently in its range:

  • MGS9 PHEV: A seven-seat SUV.
  • MG4 EV Urban: A hatchback.
  • MG HS Plug-in Hybrid.
  • MG IM5: A saloon.
  • MG ZS Hybrid+.
  • MG Cyberster: An electric roadster.

European auto major Renault India has introduced its E-Tech 160 strong-hybrid powertrain in the Indian market with the launch of the new Renault Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160. The hybrid SUV can be had at prices starting from INR 1.69 million ex-showroom across three trim levels: Evolution, Techno and Emotion.

The Duster E-Tech 160 comes with a 1.8-litre petrol engine, two electric motors, a 1.4 kWh battery pack and a multi-mode automatic transmission, producing a combined power output of 160 PS and peak motor torque of 208 Nm.

The transmission utilises two electric and four combustion gears to deliver 15 drive combinations. Certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) at 29 kilometres per litre, the SUV enables up to 80 percent of urban driving in electric mode and incorporates regenerative braking with a B-mode selector.

The Duster E-Tech 160 features an illuminated logo grille, frequency-dependent damping, battery thermal cooling and revised cabin upholstery across variants. The Techno variant includes beige semi-leatherette trim, while the Emotion variant adds brown leatherette seats with front ventilation and six-way power adjustment. The Evolution trim is priced at INR 1.69 million, the Techno at INR 1.89 million and the Emotion at INR 1.94 million. Pre-orders are open across Renault dealerships and online channels, supported by an optional Protect 360 ownership package.

Stéphane Deblaise, CEO, Renault Group India, said, "With more than one million E-Tech strong hybrid vehicles sold worldwide since 2020, the E-Tech strong hybrid is a proven Renault powertrain technology. Now, we are bringing it to India as part of our futuREady India roadmap. Our approach is to bring to the Indian customers the best of Renault’s global technologies, while developing cars, powertrains and features specifically for Indian needs through our engineering and design centres in Chennai, our biggest outside Europe. The Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 is a clear example of this approach."

Francisco Hidalgo, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, Renault Group India, said, "In the Duster segment, nearly half of all diesel vehicles are sold in the INR 1.7–2 million price band, and that rises to more than 90 percent for diesel automatics. That is exactly where the Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 comes in. Starting at INR 1.69 million, right at the heart of this market, we believe it is the smarter choice for customers considering diesel, combining significantly lower fuel consumption with a quieter, smoother and more sophisticated driving experience, without requiring customers to change how or where they drive."
