Tata Motors’ New Safari And Harrier Receive First Ever Bharat-NCAP 5-Star Rating

Tata Motors has announced that its flagship SUV, the new Safari and Harrier have become the first recipients of the 5-star Bharat NCAP rating (adult occupant protection and child occupant protection).
Built on the OMEGARC architecture derived from Land Rover’s renowned D8 Platform, the powerful and stylish Safari and Harrier SUVs have also bagged the 5-star Global NCAP rating in tests that were carried before the announcement of Bharat NCAP by the Indian government.
Speaking about the two Tata Motors SUVs undergoing the safety test, Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, "Bharat-NCAP is a significant step forward as it provides customers with a credible, objective score to evaluate the safety aspects of various vehicles. Informed customers taking optimal decisions will further foster the rising preference for safer vehicles in the country. The prominent safety features in the Safari and Harrier include 7 airbags (of which six are standard across the range), ESC (standard across the range), 3-point seat belts, seat belt reminders, Isofix tethers and reinforced cabin structure.
Kia India Expands Seltos Lineup With New GTX (O) & X-Line (O) Variants

Kia India, one of the leading passenger vehicle manufacturers, has expanded its popular Seltos SUV line-up with the introduction of the GTX(O) and X-Line(O) variants at prices starting INR 2.15 million.
The new variants feature the ADAS F+ package, which includes 28 safety functions such as Front Collision-Avoidance Assist, Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control, and Highway Driving Assist. The vehicles are equipped with technology including the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), Kia Connect 2.0, a head-up display, an air purifier with AQI display and a dual-camera dashcam.

Hyundai Motor India Reports 39,635 Wholesales For June 2026

Hyundai Motor India (HMIL), one of the leading passenger vehicle manufacturers, has reported its wholesales for June 2026.
The company reported total sales of 51,335 units, down 16 percent YoY, as compared to 60,924 units a year ago.
Domestic sales came at 39,635 units, down 10 percent YoY, as against 44,024 units a year ago, while exports were down 31 percent YoY at 11,700 units.
The company’s performance was hit due to a production loss of 13,900 units due to a fire incident at one of its supplier’s manufacturing facilities.
Tarun Garg, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India, said, “In June 2026, Hyundai Motor India achieved total monthly sales of 51,335 units (Domestic: 39,635 units and Exports: 11,700 units) despite facing a production loss of 13,900 units owing to a fire incident at one of the supplier’s manufacturing facilities which led to a temporary disruption in production. HMIL has taken all necessary steps to ensure production normalcy including arranging automotive parts from alternate source locations. Our production operations have returned to normal across facilities since June 22, 2026. We expect to recover the loss in June production volume within Q2 of FY2027.”
Mahindra Sells 60,393 SUVs In June 2026

Mumbai-headquartered automotive major Mahindra & Mahindra has announced its wholesales for June 2026.
The company sold a total of 60,393 SUVs, which was 28 percent higher YoY, as compared to 47,306 units last year.
On the other hand, commercial vehicle sales came at 39,896, units, as compared to 27,802 units last year.
Exports on the other hand came at 5,918 units, up 125 percent YoY, albeit a low-year-ago base of 2,634 units.
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, “In June we achieved SUV sales of 60,393 units and LCV <3.5T segment sales of 26,076 units delivering robust growth of 28 percent and 35 percent, respectively. The total vehicle sales stood at 106,207, a 37 percent YoY growth reflecting all-round demand traction across the portfolio.”

Tata Sierra.ev With 63 kWh Battery Pack Variant Launched At INR 1.87 Million

Tata Motors, one of the leading passenger vehicle manufacturers, has introduced its much-awaited Sierra.ev with prices starting at INR 1.87 million for the 63 kWh variant and INR 2.21 million for the 75 kWh variant.
The Sierra.ev is built on a purpose-engineered EV architecture and features a 63 kWh battery pack providing a MIDC range of 565 km per charge and 665km MIDC range for the 75 kWh battery pack.
The EV supports fast charging, with the capacity to add approximately 263 km of range in 15 minutes. Performance specifications include acceleration from zero to 100 kmph in 5.8 seconds and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing 504 Nm of torque in the top variant.

The tech-loaded Sierra.ev features a triple-screen infotainment system, a 12-speaker JBL audio system and a head-up display. It also gets L2+ driver assistance systems (ADAS) tech. The SUV has a 622-litre boot space, a powered tailgate and also comes with V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) and V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) charging capabilities.
The Sierra.EV features 205 mm of ground clearance and six terrain modes, including snow, mud, sand and rock crawl. The EV includes a lifetime warranty (15-year) on the high-voltage battery.
Bookings for the Tata Sierra.ev have started, with deliveries scheduled to begin on 15 July 2026.
