Tata Nexon.EV Extends 5-Star Crash Test Rating In Bharat NCAP

Tata Motors, one of the leading passenger vehicle manufacturers, has added another feather to its cap with the Nexon.EV extending its 5-star safety rating in Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP).

The automaker has been actively pursuing safety as a critical parameter in its passenger vehicles, with the Nexon SUV being the first vehicle manufactured in India to have scored 5-star rating at Global NCAP way back in 2018.

Going forward, the company has continued to strengthen its portfolio with actively getting its vehicles assessed in Global NCAP as well as Bharat NCAP protocols.

In June 2024, Tata Motors’ Punch.ev became the first electric vehicle in India to bag the 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP. And now, the company continued the tradition with the Nexon.ev continuing to sport the badge of 5-star safety rating.

Suzuki Wagon R Crosses 10 Million Global Sales Milestone

Japanese automaker Suzuki Motor Corporation has announced that its popular hatchback the ‘Wagon R’ series has achieved a new sales milestone.

First introduced in September 1993 in Japan, the Wagon R has now crossed cumulative global sales of 10 million units by June 2025. The milestone was achieved 31 years and 9 months after the first launch.

The Wagon R was originally developed as a semi-bonnet style mini wagon, designed with rider comfort and ease of use in mind. It has become one of Suzuki’s signature models, widely appreciated in Japan.

Over the years, production expanded beyond Japan to countries including India, Hungary and Indonesia, with the model evolving to suit local market needs. The technologies refined for global minicar standards have been applied across the Wagon R series.

To date, the Wagon R has been sold in over 75 countries and regions, including Japan, India and across Europe. The series has consistently improved in terms of fuel efficiency, environmental performance, and user convenience. For instance, CNG variants with enhanced fuel economy have been introduced in India, while the Wagon R Smile – featuring sliding doors – was launched in Japan.

Tata Motors’ CFO PB Balaji Succeeds Adrian Mardell As New Boss Of Jaguar Land Rover

Tata Motors-owned British luxury marquee brand Jaguar Land Rover has announced that PB Balaji is set to become its new CEO effective November 2025.

He will succeed Adrian Mardell, who has expressed his desire to retire from Jaguar Land Rover after being at the helm for three years and spending over three and half decades with the luxury brand.

With over three decades of experience in the automotive and consumer goods industry, Balaji has been serving as the Group Chief Financial Officer of the Tata Motors Group since November 2017. He has successfully led large, diverse, global teams in multi-cultural environments out of Mumbai, London, Singapore and Switzerland, and has been closely associated with the successful transformation at the Tata Motors Group.

N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Jaguar Land Rover, Tata Motors and Tata Sons, said, “I would like to thank Adrian for the stellar turnaround of JLR and for delivering record results. I am delighted to appoint Balaji as the incoming CEO of the Company. The search for a suitable candidate to lead JLR has been undertaken by the Board for the past few months and after careful consideration it was decided to appoint Balaji. The company reportedly sold 117,458 Hyundai Creta during January to July, with a 8 percent YoY growth making it the most popular model sold in the passenger vehicle category.
