Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has formally announced its participation in the Global Toyota Ekiden Relay Race 2024 to be held on 8 December at Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan. This year marks a milestone for TKM at the event because of the inclusion of 10 women participants in its 20-member team.

Participants from several TKM departments make up the 20-member team, which exemplifies the company's collaborative culture. Additionally, the team's equal representation of female players highlights TKM's continuous efforts to establish fair opportunities and acknowledge the critical significance of gender diversity. Toyota's philosophy that a healthy body and mind are essential to a better life and a productive workplace is reflected in the team's months of intense training, which included time trials and practice runs to improve their fitness, endurance and collaboration.

Originating in Japan, the Ekiden relay race represents cooperation, resiliency and unity – values that are fundamental to Toyota's culture. TKM has followed this custom since 2005 in an effort to motivate staff to put collaboration and health first. The women's squad consists of Meghana S Acharya, Kavana N R, Ranjitha K, B L Chaithra, Saritha, Lavanya D N, M Shendure Madhavi, Soumya Jammihal, Aishwarya D J and Deepika K. They are joined by male participants Madhu K M, Siddaraju C, Darshan A, Gagan B R, Ramesh Hanamant Singadi, K Sharanappa, Kishor M K, M Y Sandeep Kumar and M Uday Kumar.

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation has appointed Franziska Cusumano as the new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 April 2026. The appointment follows approval by the company’s board of directors and general shareholders’ meeting.

Cusumano joins the Kawasaki-based CV maker from Daimler Truck, where she served as Chief Executive of Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks. She succeeds Karl Deppen, who currently serves as the President and CEO.

The leadership change is accompanied by two additional board appointments effective on the same date:

• Tatsuya Nomura: Currently Officer of Management Integration at Hino Motors, Nomura will join the board as Director.
• Hironobu Ando: Appointed as Director while maintaining his position as Senior Vice President and Head of Product Engineering.

These director appointments are contingent upon the closing of the business integration agreement between Fuso and Hino Motors. This agreement was originally signed in June 2025 and subsequently amended. The appointments will formally take effect once the closing conditions specified in the agreement are fulfilled.

The transition occurs as the company continues to align its operations under the framework of the Hino Motors integration. The new leadership team is expected to manage the combined engineering and management integration workstreams resulting from the 2025 agreement.

Eicher Trucks & Buses, a unit of VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd (VECV), has inaugurated a dedicated dealership for its Eicher Pro X small truck range in Faridabad. Operated by Shree Motors, the 12,000 sqft 3S facility integrates sales, service and spares under one roof.

The facility situated on NH-19 (Delhi–Mathura–Agra corridor) provides access to fleet operators in Northern India's industrial and logistics hubs. The dealership is part of Eicher's ‘born-digital’ network, featuring an omni-channel retail model. Interactive digital displays and a dedicated customisation zone allow customers to configure vehicles according to specific requirements:

Daimler Buses has reached a production milestone with the 40,000th Mercedes-Benz Tourismo rolling off the assembly line in early 2026. The high-deck coach, which debuted in 1992, remains a high-volume model within the European touring sector.

The Tourismo has transitioned through three generations, expanding from a single 12-metre variant to a range of models between 12 and 14 metres in length.

• First Generation (1992): Launched as the O 340 and later the O 350, it established a position in the business-class coach segment.
• Second Generation (2006): Introduced two- and three-axle variants and integrated the Electronic Stability Program (ESP). By 2015, the model surpassed 10,000 sales and added Lane Assist and emergency braking systems.
• Third Generation (2017–Present): Focused on aerodynamic efficiency, achieving a drag coefficient of cw = 0.33. This generation introduced Active Brake Assist 4 and Sideguard Assist.

The current iteration, highlighted by the 2023 Safety Coach upgrade, includes several technical advancements aimed at operational efficiency and passenger protection. It features Active Brake Assist 6 Plus, MirrorCam, Frontguard Assist and Attention Assist.

The bus now features an automatic body-lowering function that drops the chassis by 20 mm at 79 kmph to improve fuel economy. Maintenance is supported by the Omniplus digital platform, which includes an eShop for parts and 3D-printed components produced locally to reduce the CO2 footprint.
