ViewReactions are pouring in to the Prime Minister's speech on conserving petrol and diesel; to restrict travel; not purchase gold for the next one year, and to work from home in the aftermath of the elections in the state of Bengal and Tamil Nadu. A big factor that has pushed the Brent prices up and the Indian Rupee down has largely been the US, Israel and Iran conflict of recent times. Add to this the recent announcement by the Union Transport & Highways Minister that petrol and diesel have no future. A clear message out of all this is how the economy, purchasing power and ownership experience of motorists is going to be put to test. Tech and innovation will be put to test as automakers anticipate change in terms of regulations and market forces. This issue of Motoring Trends looks at the changes-in-motion and the factors affecting an industry that provides employment to thousands of people and is a source of aspiration for trillions around the world under the guise of mobility. Terrific changes to mobility are in the making as world economies undergo drastic changes, influence trends and inspire ways to conserve the environment.
